Youth Worker Devotion: Contingency Planning

We all know what a contingency plan is, something we put into place in case something falls apart and we need a quick plan B.  Hopefully we use them and have them prepared when we go on trips, develop lessons and games.   However, do we remember and set up the first contingency???

 John 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

To be contingent is to be dependent upon.  John 1 tells us how all of creation is contingent upon Christ.   Understanding the place of Christ in our lives and our planning necessitates that we get put in our place under Christ.  In all our planning do we take the time to ensure that we remain in a contingent state on Christ or do we try to run our own show and try to make the rope between our plans and Christ stretch enough to make the connection?   In all our lives we should start with Christ, our creator and the one we are contingent upon and have our plans stem from that place.  Otherwise we may doomed in both our planning and our own ‘contingency planning’
