Dodging Bullets: Intro
I love mentoring youth leaders. Over the years I’ve mentored somewhere between 1 and 1000 fellow youth workers ranging from day one in youth ministry to the seasoned youth ministry veteran. The stories below are true, many of them have been combined from several different youth workers I’ve known through the years, including myself. All the names have been changed to protect the innocent (and guilty). None of these workers started out in youth ministry to make it into this type of series. But, we’d like you to learn from our mistakes so you can thrive in youth ministry while protecting your soul and the souls of those you serve. Additionally, I want to reach out to you and let you know that you are not alone in whatever predicament you are facing and there are outlets for you to connect with in becoming a more Christ-like leading to a deeper understanding of the heart of youth ministry.
Over the next three weeks we’ll be seeking out 9 characters (names alliterated to help you remember these people) to engage ourselves in a pursuit to help us understand how to avoid the bullets of ministry, especially those self-inflicted wounds.
